Eagles RB Saquon Barkley has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Panthers with a hamstring injury, but it appears WR DeVonta Smith will return.

After missing a second straight week of practice due to a right hamstring injury, Barkley subsequently will be inactive for a second occasion this season. The Eagles placed Will Shipley (foot) on injured reserve Friday, so the backfield currently is occupied by Dameon Pierce and Carson Steele, the former of whom is the favorite to garner more of the workload for as long as Barkley is sidelined.
Injury / practice
Barkley hasn't practiced the past two weeks and now appears likely to miss a second game. The Eagles will be short-handed, to say the least, with QB Jalen Hurts (blood clot) now joining the long list of starters to miss time this season. If Barkley is indeed inactive, Dameon Pierce will be the favorite to start at running back for Philadelphia.
Injury / practice
Barkley's lack of activity so far this week isn't a surprise considering he hasn't been present for either of the Eagles' two practices. He thus has one more opportunity to attempt to mix into drills Friday, at which point the team may make a ruling on his status ahead of Sunday's game against the Panthers. If Barkley and fellow RB Will Shipley (foot) are sidelined this weekend, Dameon Pierce is the top candidate to pace Philadelphia's backfield, with Carson Steele also on hand for reps that linger.
Injury / practice
As of Wednesday, Barkley has been listed as a non-participant on four consecutive injury reports due to a right hamstring issue, and he seems poised to make it five such listings once the Eagles post their second Week 6 report. With Will Shipley (foot) likely out for multiple weeks, Dameon Pierce seems set for a large workload out of the backfield Sunday against the Panthers, assuming Barkley doesn't put himself in a position to play.
Injury / practice
Barkley has yet to mix into drills since suffering a right hamstring injury in the early stages of the Eagles' Week 4 loss to the Rams. Head coach Nick Sirianni expressed hope Monday that Barkley will return to action Sunday against the Panthers, suggesting it's possible he gets back on the practice field by Friday. Until that happens, though, Barkley likely is trending toward another absence in Week 6, which would leave Philadelphia's backfield in the hands of Dameon Pierce and Carson Steele with Will Shipley (foot) set for a multi-week stay on the sideline.
Injury / practice
Barkley was inactive for this past Sunday's loss to the Jaguars in London due to a hamstring injury suffered one week prior, but head coach Nick Sirianni told Zach Berman of The Athletic on Monday that he's "hopeful" the running back will gain clearance to play in Week 6 against the Panthers. Assuming Barkley goes down as a DNP on Wednesday, he's not beginning the week on the right foot, but he'll still have two more chances to mix into drills Thursday and Friday.
