Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur announced during his Monday press conference that the team will have running back Josh Jacobs in practice this week, but that edge defender Micah Parsons will not be practicing, another sign that Parsons has yet to be medically cleared by the training staff. As expected, Jacobs is off the list and eligible to practice. Head coach Matt LaFleur told Weston Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site Monday that Jacobs is expected to take on a full week of drills, but the team hasn't determined if the running back will make his season debut this coming Sunday at Detroit. It should be noted that Green Bay has been granted a one-game exemption for Jacobs that expires next Monday, Oct. 26, per the NFL's transaction log, meaning he currently doesn't count against the active roster. If Jacobs doesn't play in Week 7, MarShawn Lloyd, Pierre Strong and Kaleb Johnson will continue to handle the Packers backfield.

Jacobs will practice with the Packers for the first time since the preseason Wednesday, after he was scheduled to be removed from the commissioner's exempt list Monday. Though he was able to work out at the Packers' team facility over the past two months while his playing status was in limbo due to the ongoing legal saga related to his May arrest in a domestic incident, Jacobs may need more than a full week of practice for the team to feel comfortable having him play in games. Whenever Jacobs is deemed ready to suit up, his addition will provide a boost to a Green Bay running game that ranks last in the NFL by a wide margin with an average of 59. 8 yards per contest through six weeks.

Jacobs' playing status has been in limbo since his May arrest following a domestic incident that led to the running back pleading no contest to misdemeanor charges of battery and criminal damage to property in early September. He since has missed the first five games of the season and will miss a sixth contest Sunday, and while he'll be able to practice next week and make his 2026 debut on Sunday, Oct. 25, the NFL will keep its investigation of Jacobs open, reserving the right to add further discipline if new information comes to light, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.
