Browns rookie wide receiver KC Concepcion has cleared the concussion protocol and will play against the Ravens.
Injury / practice· Daniel Oyefusi· Read on ESPN Browns (opens in a new tab)
Concepcion sustained a concussion last Sunday when he took a big hit from Jets safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, with his helmet slamming into the turf afterward. However, Concepcion was able to make quick work of the protocol for head injuries this week and will be available to the Browns offense Sunday. Prior to his abbreviated outing in Week 5, the rookie first-rounder had a 17-144-0 line on 28 targets through the first four games of his career.
Injury / practice
While Concepcion's ability to practice in some capacity for a second straight day is an encouraging sign, he still has a couple of hurdles to clear in order to play Sunday versus the Ravens. In addition to upgrading to full practice participation Friday, Concepcion will need to be cleared by an independent neurologist no later than Saturday before he's removed from concussion protocol. If the rookie wideout can't play against Baltimore, Jerry Jeudy and Isaiah Bond would be in store for more reps behind Denzel Boston (foot), who was also limited in practice Thursday.
Injury / practice
Just three days after sustaining a concussion when he was on the receiving end of a helmet-to-helmet hit from the Jets' Minkah Fitzpatrick, Concepcion was able to make enough progress through the five-step protocol to open Week 6 prep on the field, albeit in a limited fashion. He'll have two more chances to upgrade to full participation and will then need to receive clearance from an independent neurologist before being removed from the protocol. If Concepcion can't play Sunday against the Ravens, Jerry Jeudy and Isaiah Bond would be in line for added reps alongside Denzel Boston (foot) in two- and three-receiver sets.
Injury / practice
Though he remains in the five-step concussion protocol after being knocked out of this past Sunday's 17-12 loss to the Jets following a helmet-to-helmet hit from safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, Concepcion's ability to practice in any fashion to begin Week 6 prep is an encouraging sign. The rookie wideout will likely need to upgrade to full practice participation by the end of the week in order to have a shot at playing Sunday against the Ravens, and he'll also need to gain clearance from an independent neurologist.
