Valdes-Scantling is expected to start on the practice squad and work his way up to playing with former teammate Aaron Rodgers on the active roster. The wide receiver contributed 690 receiving yards and six touchdowns to Rodgers' 2020 MVP campaign and 430 yards and three touchdowns to his 2021 MVP campaign, both with the Packers.
Injury / practice
Valdes-Scantling linked up with the Chargers in mid-September and got into three games with the club, catching two of five targets for 22 yards. Los Angeles activated KeAndre Lambert-Smith (hamstring) from IR on Saturday, and Valdes-Scantling was the corresponding roster cut. The veteran wideout may now seek out an opportunity with another NFL organization in need of wide-receiver depth.
Reporter
Valdes-Scantling was limited Wednesday, though his full participation Thursday suggests he will be good to go Sunday versus the Chiefs. The 32-year-old has appeared in three games for Los Angeles in 2026, catching two passes (five targets) for 22 yards.
Injury / practice
Valdes-Scantling is dealing with a rib injury that he likely suffered during the Chargers' Week 5 loss to the Broncos. The wide receiver was not given an official injury designation and has already practiced in a limited fashion during the first prep session of Week 6. This indicates that Valdes-Scantling is dealing with a minor injury and will likely be able to suit up for Week 6 against the Chiefs.
