The wideout popped up on the injury report Friday due to an illness and drew a questionable tag, but Metcalf is apparently feeling better a day later and has been given an early green light to play Sunday. Metcalf saw a season-low four targets in a Week 5 win over the Colts, but he could be in line for more looks Sunday with Roman Wilson (finger) joining fellow receiver Michael Pittman (foot) on injured reserve Saturday and with tight end Pat Freiermuth (calf) listed as questionable for Week 6.
Injury / practice
Metcalf wasn't listed on the injury report Wednesday or Thursday, which suggests he started feeling sick Thursday evening or Friday morning. He'll have nearly two days to recover before a 1:00 p. m. ET kickoff Sunday, and the Steelers might want him active even if he isn't at full strength, given their myriad of injury problems at wide receiver. Roman Wilson (finger) and Ben Skowronek (calf) are out this week, leaving Germie Bernard and return specialist Kaden Wetjen as the only healthy WRs on the active roster. Brandon Johnson was called up from the practice squad last week.
