Chargers WR Ladd McConkey, in his first action since injuring his foot in Week 4, left Sunday's game early after suffering a concussion in the second quarter.

McConkey was being evaluated for a possible head injury early in the second quarter before the Chargers quickly ruled him out. This follows a nearly three-week stretch in which he was dealing with a lingering foot issue that didn't allow him to log a snap in Week 4, despite being active. Now that he's subject to the concussion protocol, McConkey's next game action is up in the air.
Injury / practice
Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey is being evaluated by the medical staff after suffering a head injury in the first half of the team's Week 6 game against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. During the broadcast, it was announced that McConkey would be out for the remainder of the game. So…

Quentin Johnston (chest) has also been cleared to play, while Tre' Harris (hamstring) has been ruled out. Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh declined to comment on playing-time expectations for Sunday, simply telling reporters, "I don't know," and "we'll see how it goes," when asked about McConkey and Johnston on Friday, per Alex Insdorf of BoltBeat. com. McConkey has been the No. 1 target when available, but Justin Herbert may not have time to look downfield behind an injury-ravaged offensive line.
Injury / practice
After being active but not playing in this past Sunday's 23-17 loss to the Broncos, McConkey is in a better spot on the health front in Week 6. He's participated on a limited basis in the Chargers' first two practices of the week, and if he can maintain that level of activity of upgrade to full Friday, McConkey could head into Sunday's game against the Chiefs without an injury designation. Much like the other core members of a struggling Chargers offense, McConkey has gotten off to an underwhelming start to 2026 with a 12-183-1 receiving line on 17 targets through his four appearances.
Injury / practice
Head coach Jim Harbaugh revealed earlier Wednesday that McConkey would get some work in, and he was officially marked down with a limited tag. It's too early to tell if McConkey will take the field in Week 6, but his participation in Wednesday's session bodes well for his chances of doing so.
Injury / practice
Though he was technically active for this past Sunday's 23-17 loss to the Broncos, McConkey wasn't available after failing to practice in any fashion leading up to the contest. Now that he's poised to get back on the practice field Wednesday, McConkey should be in good position to reclaim his usual role as the team's No. 1 wideout this weekend in Kansas City, provided he has no setbacks in his recovery from the foot injury leading up to Sunday. McConkey's potential return is an important development while the Chargers contend with multiple injuries at receiver, as Tre' Harris (hamstring) exited the Week 5 loss early and Quentin Johnston (chest) and Brenen Thompson (quadriceps) were inactive for the game.
