Sampson has been sidelined since injuring his left knee during a Week 1 loss to the Jaguars, and while he was designated to return from injured reserve Wednesday, he didn't do enough in practice since then to warrant activation. With Sampson still sidelined and Quinshon Judkins' (foot) status up in the air for Week 6, the Browns may be looking at a situation in which Jaleel McLaughlin and Audric Estime are powering the ground game this weekend.
Injury / practice
Though the Browns officially designated Sampson for return from injured reserve Wednesday, he didn't end up taking any reps in the team's first Week 6 practice session. Sampson was back on the field a day later as a limited participant, but in order to have a shot at being reinstated from IR ahead of Sunday's game against the Ravens, he may need to upgrade to a full practice Friday. Lead back Quinshon Judkins (foot) hasn't been able to practice in any fashion this week and looks to be trending toward sitting out versus Baltimore, so Sampson could be in line for a prominent role if he ends up getting activated this weekend.
Injury / practice
Despite being designated for return from injured reserve earlier Wednesday, Sampson didn't end up logging any reps after having his 21-day practice window opened. Prior to the Browns' first Week 6 practice, head coach Todd Monken told Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram that Sampson has a chance at being activated from injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game against the Ravens, but the second-year back would likely need to put in a full workout Thursday or Friday to make that a reality.
Injury / practice
The transaction clears the way for Sampson to practice Wednesday and opens a 21-day window for the Browns to evaluate him for a return to the 53-man roster. The second-year back has been sidelined since sustaining the left knee injury during the Browns' Week 1 loss to the Jaguars, but head coach Todd Monken suggested that Sampson could have a shot at playing Sunday versus the Ravens, per Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram. Sampson will likely need to turn in at least one full practice over the next three days for the Browns to feel comfortable activating him from injured reserve ahead of their Week 6 matchup.
Injury / practice
Sampson was initially placed on injured reserve on Sept. 15 with a knee injury
